About us

SDDK Motorsports is a non-profit foundation based in Curaçao that seeks to promote motorsports throughout the Caribbean, but especially in Curaçao. In the Caribbean it does so by fostering partnerships and collaborations, whereas in Curaçao it educates, informs, and organizes world class events, such as Hot Cars & Hot Cakes, 50th Anniversary of the Porsche 911, Harley Davidson Braggin’ Rights, Automotive Art Exhibition, and Hillclimb Curacao. It’s latest achievement is the realization of the Motorsports Museum.

SDDK Motorsports was founded by Danny de Kort in 2011 as a means to put his creativity and knowledge of motorsports to good use for the benefit of Curaçao and the Caribbean. A car collector, restorer, licensed pro mod drag racer, amateur writer and photographer, along with Priscilla Lotman, who also loves to travel, they report each year on several car races or motorsports events around the world. Armed with newly acquired information they return home and start spreading the news through various channels.

The foundation’s funding is derived from own funds, sponsorships, donations, and fundraisers. Additionally, it supports the local chapters of Prinses Wilhelmina Fonds and Ronald Mc Donald House.

Recently the foundation has been focusing its efforts to broaden the type of motorsports coverage in the Caribbean. Historically the islands have kept to their roots regarding what is practiced and followed by the fans. The foundation will strive to promote some motorsports coverage previously under served in the area. Endurance is one of these and for its closest race, the 1000 miles of Sebring, we were able to photograph and provide coverage both the WEC’s 1000 Miles of Sebring and the IMSA Sebring race. The next big race is Spa- Francorchamps, in Belgium, which is also on our calendar, offering free live coverage from the race’s media center to media outlets serving the Caribbean.

In the past we’ve been actively participating in drag racing, first with the Whathehell GTO and later with Piss’d Off Pete Chevy Cobalt. The latter’s story was chronicled in a blog which provides one with a glimpse into Pro Stock racing, against the likes of Pat Musi driving Frank Brandao’s King Kong IV.
