On September 22, 2018 SDDK Motorsports organized the very first hillclimb in thirty years. Held on the original course at Nieuwpoort, where the first race was held in 1965, the day brought back many a fond memory for those that used to compete back in the day.
Some forty entries, the oldest being from 1955, took to the line and had a total of four chances to vie for the quickest time up the hill, which forms part of the iconic Tafelberg. Both grandstands and general admittance were sold out, qualifying the event as a success.
Hillclimb Curacao is a timed race up a hill that is open to everyday road going and specially prepared race cars. Novice hillclimb participants will receive prior instructions and testing opportunities, making the hillclimb accessible to many motorsports enthusiasts. The 2019 edition of Hillclimb Curacao will take place on April 13, 2019.
