One of the various goals of the SDDK Motorsports foundation is to help raise the level of motorsport in general. This is crucial with regards to the continuity of the various forms of motorsports. An interesting way to do this is to introduce and promote the novel concept of building one’s own race trophies.
The reasons why designing and creating one’s own trophies would be beneficial to one are listed below, and are amongst others, but not limited to:
- having your “own” trophies sets you apart from the rest, from other race events,
- promotes creativity in the local community, as ideas are generated to capture in an artwork what symbolizes the pinnacle of that particular form of motorsport,
- promotes local business, which directly promotes job retention and job creation,
- promotes entrepreneurship, as people seek to satisfy a need or grow a business,
Of course, we realize that the idea for creating one’s own trophy is not for everyone, but it could be for the selected few. And even if the first attempt doesn’t hit the intended mark, the second or third one will, as long as one has the desire to see it through.
In order to better inform the public, the foundation recently made this short video.
The idea to build one’s own trophies stemmed from a special need for a Challenge Cup for the foundation’s Harley Davidson Braggin’ Rights friendly drag race, which started back in 2014, and is a once a year fundraiser.

Trophy made out of Piss’d Off Pete’s used “all aluminum” pistons and rods.
