EJV racing to Heaven

This week we received the heart breaking news that long time petrolhead Eric-Jan Venekatte had sadly passed away, much too soon.

Eric-Jan was a true motorsports enthusiast going back decades. Though I didn’t know him very well, only through his participation in our 2019 Hillclimb Curaçao, I can mention that he was one of the large sponsors behind the Curaçao Poker Run. He also used to participate in the original Hillclimb’s organized by the Automobile Club Curaçao in the 1960’s – 1980’s. It has been brought to my attention that he’s helped and sponsored a long list of racers, whether on two-or four wheels, through the decades.

The Curaçao motorsports community has lost an important participant and contributor. Eric-Jan will be sorely missed.

On behalf of our entire community, we herewith extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends and acquaintances. May Eric-Jan Rest In Peace.

As the tributes come pouring in, we’d like to share this particular one by Kenneth Mendez Chumaceiro. “the picture above is of one of his [EJV] favorite motor sports: Rally. Driver: Eric-Jan Venekatte and Co-driver: W. Kleinveld in their Mazda 323 sponsored by Tropical Motors“.
