Drag Racing

As drag racing is one of the most expensive sports in Curaçao, in 2015 SDDK Motorsports developed the Drag Race Advertising Program (DRAP) to assist car owners and drivers. The DRAP allows doorslammers to complement their winnings for first and runner up in up to 5 specific classes in up to 4 FAC sanctioned drag races. Dragsters, motorcycles, and street going cars are not eligible.

The DRAP is a derivative of the well-known contingency program. In the latter a manufacturer pays a winning racer a certain amount of money (or gift) that is contingent on the racer having purchased and used their product to win with. our program pays the participating racer who wins or is runner up, if he or she has the decal of the advertiser as per the rules placed on his/her car. Having 100% of the participating DRAP advertiser’s decals on a car ensures that the maximum amount is won, and no money is left on the table. Not many people would give up a big chunk of their paycheck, but that’s exactly what some drag racers will do when they don’t take full advantage of the DRAP.

The entire program will be administered by SDDK Motorsports, meaning that we make the decals available to the participants, after the races we will calculate the amount of price money that a person is eligible for, and will make this available to them as soon as possible. Hereafter we will ask the corresponding companies for reimbursement. In other words, you get your cash or cheque directly from us, and we in turn will get the same amount back from the advertisers when we are reimbursed.

The DRAP is 100% transparent in that you know in advance what your winnings may be, provided you follow the rules. Also, it is offered free of charge to racers. the only thing we ask in return is that you abide by the rules and you support DRAP’s participating companies as much as you can!

Participants responsibilities:

The participant that has won or finished in the runner up’s spot in one of the five participating DRAP categories is responsible for having quality photographs (preferably by a professional photographer) taken immediately after the race, at least two high resolution (minimum 5 MB) pictures of the car, one of each side, and submitting these as soon as possible via email to SDDK Motorsports. This is for us to confirm that the racer is in compliance of the DRAP Decal Rules. Not only should the participant follow the DRAP Decal Rules when placing the decals on the car, but he/she also keep himself/herself abreast of the latest regarding the DRAP.

Disqualifications:

SDDK Motorsports takes its task very seriously. “There is no gray area. You either have it or you don’t.” Participating racers are responsible for knowing the requirements. Ignorance is not an excuse. “Decal slapping” is another area that we has little regard for. Decals must be on both sides of the car for the whole drag race event, even if one loses in the first round. Though only the winner and runner-up are eligible for awards, that doesn’t mean that you “slap on” the decals just before pulling into the water box in the final round. If you do, we has the right to refuse payment and/or award, based on the fact that you didn’t hold up your end of the agreement.

THE PRIZES ORGANIZED BY THE DRAP ARE MEANT TO BE COMPLEMENTARY TO THOSE OF THE FAC SANCTIONED DRAG RACE ORGANIZER AND IN NO WAY ARE MEANT AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR THE LATTER.

Example of payout figures:

Example of maximum winnings based on current number of DRAP company participants:

  • 6 rear fender (basic) decals at Ang 45.00 for winner, equals Ang. 270.00

Total earnings per winner Ang. 945.00 (of which Ang. 75 in goods/services)

Decal placement:

Premium decals should be placed on the front fenders of a doorslammer. Premium decals are larger than the basic decals. Premium decals pay Ang. 75 for first place and Ang. 25 for second (runner up). Below you will find a few examples of the premium category decals.
